The PlayStation®3 system software version 3.21 update includes the following:

Settings

The [Install Other OS] and [Default System] features have been deleted.

The playback quality of some PlayStation® format software that is downloaded (as a purchase or for free) from PlayStation®Store has been improved.

A security patch was added to address security vulnerabilities that may occur when playing MP4 format video files.

there's a bypass for it. the reason they did it was because Geohotz hacked the ps3 using the install other os feature. this prevents anyone from hacking their ps3's anymore if they updated

i never used it anyway.

The new update does not allow one to install another operating system on Sony Playstation 3 Sony has developed such an update, because installing a second operating system to the box it is possible for hackers and hackers to interfere with the system easily.
